Attorney Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University at Long Beach, completed graduate hours from Georgia State University before going to law school, and earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Georgia School of Law. After law school, she received additional training from the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada, the Erickson Mediation Institute and continuous legal education seminars and courses in the areas of law in which she practices. She is a trained mediator (civil and family).

Attorney Smith’s employment experience includes the following: private practice for 30 years, currently a City of Memphis Civil Service Commissioner, former Part-Time Shelby County Deputy Divorce Referee, former Part-Time Assistant Shelby County Attorney, former Assistant City Attorney, former City of Memphis Prosecutor, former Administrative Judge with the Memphis District Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (E.E.O.C.), former Contract Mediator with E.E.O.C., and former Court Appointed Attorney for Shelby County Juvenile Court.

Attorney Smith’s membership in professional organizations include: the Tennessee Bar Association, the Ben F. Jones Chapter of the National Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Memphis Bar Association.
